How to Create an Art Deco Bathroom
Regardless of what style you have in mind for your bathroom, there are many options for you to consider. If you are looking for a more traditional design, you may consider a Clawfoot tub, Subway tiles and Pull-chain wall sconces. If you prefer a more contemporary look, you may opt for a Frameless mirror and Window treatments.
Clawfoot tubs
During the Art Deco period, clawfoot tubs were widely used in bathrooms. These tubs were made of cast iron with decorative feet. They were heavy and were a luxurious feature in the bathroom.
Today, clawfoot tubs are available in many colors and styles. They are usually made from cast iron or acrylic. They range in size from 4 to 6 feet. They are also available in a variety of colors including brown, white, tan, pink, and cream.
Some manufacturers allow you to customize your claw-foot bathtub with custom color or design options. This is especially helpful if you are remodeling your bathroom and you need to make your tub look like a vintage claw-foot tub.
Frameless mirrors
Whether you’re decorating a new home or just need to spruce up your existing space, frameless mirrors for art deco bathroom are a great choice. They’re lightweight, easy to hang, and can bring a touch of opulence to any bathroom.
When searching for the perfect mirror, you’ll want to consider the size, style, and material. Fortunately, you have a lot of options. You can choose from vintage mirrors with elaborate antique designs, simple frames, or a variety of styles. You can also shop in sets to save money.
The Art Deco style was a popular style during the late 1920s and early 1930s. The aesthetic is all about ornamentation and bold designs. This style is often associated with luxury hotels and cruise lines, but it’s also echoed in landmark architecture.
Subway tiles
Adding subway tiles to an art deco bathroom is a great way to achieve the coveted look. These tiles are versatile enough to accommodate any style, while giving the bathroom a stylish yet practical edge.
Subway tiles have made a big comeback recently. They were invented during the turn of the nineteenth century in the New York City subway system. They are available in hundreds of standard colors. They are also available in custom options.
A good example of a bathroom with subway tiles is this mid-century design by Bridget Hanley, a renowned New Zealand designer. Bridget paired the classic beveled subway tile with Beren Light Grey tiles, which match her interior styling.
Pull-chain wall sconces
Using pull-chain wall sconces in your bathroom is the next best thing to a dedicated lighting fixture. These lights are not only stylish, but they provide illumination for your bathroom’s dark corners. And since they are usually made of glass, they provide a clean, slick look that’s perfect for a bathroom that’s awash in marble.
The best part is that they aren’t hard to find. They’re available in a wide range of styles and finishes, so you’re sure to find something that suits your style. If you’re looking to add a bit of sparkle to your bathroom, consider a satin finish nickel sconce for your wall.
Cabinetry
Whether you are renovating or redesigning your bathroom, you should consider the impact of cabinetry. While it’s a necessity, it’s also an opportunity to accentuate your personal style. You can use bold patterns and high-contrast tile to achieve an Art Deco look.
When choosing a bathroom cabinet, be sure to choose a quality finish and a design that reflects the style of the era. The 1920s through the 1940s were a time of extravagant luxury. If you are looking to add a touch of glamour to your bathroom, you should consider installing a striking chandelier. Alternatively, a modern console or bas-relief style cabinet can make a good statement.
Window treatments
Choosing the perfect window treatment can be daunting. A well crafted curtain panel can help create a room that is both warm and inviting. A textured lining can help block out light and moisture, keeping your bathroom clean and dry.
The most common mistake is in choosing the wrong fabric. For a humid bathroom, cotton is a definite go-to. Silk is a softer material that retains its luster. The most impressive thing about this fabric is that it is washable and will not stain or fade. It is also the feng shui material of choice, as it has a positive effect on airflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will the bathroom decor trend be in 2023?
While bathroom decor trends are always changing, some themes have been around since the beginning. These are the topics we’ll be covering.
Minimalism- This is the idea behind minimalism. It’s about removing clutter from our homes. This could be as simple as clearing out shelves and cabinets, getting rid of unnecessary items, and then replacing them with useful ones. This also means making everything easy to use.
Urban Living – People prefer to live in cities as they are close to all the action. Urban dwellers nowadays want to live in areas that allow them to enjoy the outdoors. They don’t want the city to be without trees or green space. They’ve retreated to smaller homes and apartments with smaller yards.
Eco-Friendly – People are more aware of the environment. In turn, this has led to a rise in eco-friendly designs. Green design focuses on creating spaces that are healthy and sustainable. Designers have many options for creating eco-friendly houses. One way is to incorporate natural materials into the design. You can also ensure that the overall appearance of the home doesn’t distract from the surrounding environment.
Shabby Chic – Shabby chic was created out of necessity, not fashion. In order to avoid wasting resources, women were forced into reusing old clothes during World War II. They began to collect vintage pieces and then repurpose them after the war was over. Shabby chic has become a very popular design trend, with many applications, including furniture, accessories, and food.
Artistic Design-Artistic design has been around since the beginning of time. Artists have always sought to express themselves through their work. Artistic design has evolved with the advancements in technology. It is possible to combine digital art and 3-D printing to create unique objects.
Industrial Design: Industrial design isn’t new. It is a concept that dates back to hundreds of years. Today, industrial design is special because of the wide range of industries we have access to. To participate in this type of design, you don’t need to be part a large corporation. Anything is possible thanks to the internet.
Modernist Architecture- Modernist architecture derives its name from the way it looks at traditional design elements such symmetry, order, and balance. Instead, Modernist Architecture focuses more on asymmetry than order. This allows architects flexibility in experimenting with different shapes. Other features include open floorplans, clean lines, clear walls, glass, steel and concrete, as well as wood.
Contemporary Design – Modern and traditional design are combined in contemporary design. It is a blend of all kinds of design that gives you something unique and fresh that takes your taste buds along for a ride.
Nature Inspired: Nature-inspired design brings the outdoors inside. Plants and flowers add life to any room, while fountains bring water into the space. You can see some amazing examples of nature-inspired interior decoration here:
Rustic Interior Decoration – If rustic is your preference, you can use cedar siding or barn wood. These elements give the rooms an authentic farmhouse feel and work well in almost any setting.
French Country Interior – If your love for the country but aren’t able to bear the cold, you might consider adding a few French country touches. Choose simple colours, pastel hues, and soft furnishings. Consider painting the walls a light color and adding some french provincial chairs to the room. Here, you’ll be able to relax during the warm months.
Bohemian Style-If you enjoy the idea living in an urban area, but still desire a bit more country feel, the bohemian fashion will be able to help you do that. Think of earthy tones, simple fabrics and low-key ornaments.
What is an average cost for a complete bathroom remodeling in Metro Vancouver?
The average cost to update a bathroom is $25,000 in Metro Vancouver. This includes labour and materials costs, as well as permits and other related costs. The cost of the project will vary depending upon its size and complexity.
For a cost-effective estimate, it is crucial to hire a professional when you’re thinking about updating your bathroom. Bathroom renovations can be simple or complex. There are many options, depending on what your budget is and what you need.
The cost of cosmetic improvements such as painting, new fixtures or updating tile work is relatively low and can make a huge impact on the overall appearance of your bathroom. Other renovations include reconfiguring your bathroom layout, adding new features, such a tub and shower, or increasing the bathroom’s size.
What bathroom finishes will be in fashion?
The matte black finish was popular in 2022 and will continue in 2023. Brushed brass, bronze and other finishes will be very popular in 2023. These finishes can give your bathroom a luxurious touch.
Bathroom finishes are often treated as an afterthought when designing bathrooms. Bathroom finishes should be planned and considered carefully from the beginning. They have a huge impact on how the room feels and looks. They also help to create a sense calmness and tranquility in the space.
You should also consider the material choice for the bathroom. The classic white tiled floor can be combined with a wooden tub and vanity unit. Perhaps you prefer a different color scheme such as black and/or a completely contrasting one. No matter what you choose, ensure it suits your taste and blends in with the rest of your house’s design.
Bathroom finishes don’t necessarily have to be expensive. Any bathroom can be transformed with a simple coat of paint.

How to find a contractor to remodel your bathroom
From finding the right contractor to hiring them, getting estimates and signing contracts, the bathroom remodeling process is complex. Because you don’t want mistakes, but need to complete the job quickly, this process is done under pressure. Here are some tips to help find the right contractor and hire them for your bathroom renovation project.
Start searching online. You don’t have to be limited by your options when it comes bathroom remodeling. You can look for contractors through websites like Trustedpros, Houzz, and others. You can enter your zip code to see local contractors with good reviews. Always look at their portfolios and google reviews.
Ask friends and family. Your family may know someone who’s done a bathroom renovation recently. Ask them to tell you about their experience and if possible, recommend a contractor. They might even be able to give you a referral fee for referring them!
You can also check out forums online. For example, there are several bathroom remodelling forums on Facebook where people post pictures of their projects and ask for advice. Reddit and Pinterest are two other popular places.
Do thorough research. Check their credentials before you hire anyone to do the work. You should check their licenses, qualifications, and insurance. Please also note their previous jobs. Are they familiar with bathroom design? Are they familiar with bathrooms of similar size?

Donald Glover gets a majorly mod real estate upgrade in La Cañada Flintridge
Though we don’t write about it often, the decidedly suburban community of La Cañada Flintridge is one of Yolanda’s favorite towns in SoCal. Located northeast of Glendale — up where the SGV meets the Crescenta Valley — this wealthy area borders the pristine Angeles National Forest. As we’ve previously mentioned, Yolanda had a very close (and sadly now deceased) relative who long lived in La Cañada. So much of our childhood was spend in the city, back about a million years ago. But we digress.
Tumblr media
Welcome to La Cañada (photo: Mike Kobeissi)
Though many La Cañada peeps are rich — there have been $10+ million mansion sales recorded there — the area does not draw many celebrities. The community is too far-flung from traditional Hollywood haunts for most entertainers. Still, there are a handful of notable residents: Oscar-winner Gore Verbinski, acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, funnyman Adam Carolla and TV actress Diane Farr.
Another famous person who calls La Cañada home — though it hasn’t yet been publicized — is the multi-talented actor/singer/writer/comedian/producer/DJ Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino.
Tumblr media
The award-winning Mr. Glover
Since at least April 2016, when he purchased a multi-million dollar mid-century residence in the sleepy town, Mr. Glover has bunked up in the notorious LCF. And apparently he likes it so much that he’s already elected to throw down millions for a residential upgrade out yonder. More on the real estate in a minute — first, let’s talk about Mr. Glover himself.
Born at Edwards Air Force Base but bred in the Deep South — the suburbs of Atlanta, to be specific — 35-year-old Mr. Glover has emerged as one of the most talented and creative members of young Hollywood. His first success came through the pen — in 2006, he graduated from NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in dramatic writing.
At some point in the mid-aughts, when he was still in his early 20s, Mr. Glover sent Hollywood producer David Miner unsolicited samples of his work, including a spec scriptthat he had written for The Simpsons. Miner and Tina Fey were impressed by Glover’s creative writing skills and invited him to join the NBC sitcom 30 Rock as a screenwriter, a job he would retain for several years.
Since then, Mr. Glover’s red-hot career has spanned the width of the entertainment industry — as a singer/rapper, he’s won a Grammy and hit #1 on the Billboard charts with This is America. As an actor, he’s won Primetime Emmys for his starring role on Atlanta — a show he also created. He’s also got two Golden Globes and five Writers Guild of America Awards to his name.
Yolanda could continue to list Mr. Glover’s accolades until the sun creeps below the horizon. But suffice to say that whether his work appeals to your personal tastes or not, the guy is indisputably talented.
Tumblr media
Donald Glover and his partner Michelle White
Mr. Glover and his longtime girlfriend Michelle White now have two young bambinos, so it makes sense that they’d want to upsize their residential circumstances. And with the money rolling in, Mr. Glover recently felt flush enough to splash out nearly $4.2 million — $4,188,000, to be exact — for a rather stunning property very near his current digs. In fact, the new place actually lies on the very same hillside street as the old house — it’s just a half-mile down the winding road.
Originally built in 1983, the huge modern house was designed by acclaimed architects Buff & Hensman and is fused almost entirely from concrete and glass. Within those soaring walls are a mansion-sized 6,848-square-feet of living space — and Yolanda absolutely loves all of it. Reagan-era ’80s moderns were so difficult to do right, kids; but on those rare occasions when the architects made it work, they created timeless showstoppers. Like the one displayed here today.
In fact, one of Yolanda’s all-time favorite architects — Mexico-based Ricardo Legorreta — specialized in modern homes of this era and created some of its very best examples. Mr. Legorreta is responsible for one of Yolanda’s favorite homes in all of LA: Casa Shapiro, Brentwood Park — but as usual, we digress.
Though the La Cañada house is very large, it remains all but invisible from the street out front, tucked back at the end of a long driveway and surrounded by a dense canopy of mature oak trees. The property spans a full 4 acres of land, large enough for even A-list celebrity-sized egos.
The house has been admirably preserved over the past 35 years and was sold to Mr. Glover by the original owners — a married Chinese couple named Allen & Kate Yuen.
Features of the main rooms include double-height ceilings, brownish tile floors, and slab-sided walls just aching for a world-class contemporary art collection. And the enormous glass windows are really quite stunning, though we imagine Consuela will curse Mr. Glover’s name every time she hauls out the ladder to spray Windex on those monsters.
There’s a lovely outdoor loggia overlooking the forested year, an elegant dining room and a family room with a giant wet bar. The kitchen is the one room that could definitely use a complete gut job — imagine how many food scraps are stuck in the grouting on those tile countertops. Yuck!
With 6 beds and 7 baths, the structure has plenty of space for a growing family. The master suite features a bedroom sitting area, private outdoor terrace, a walk-in closet and bathroom with built-in soaking tub.
There are numerous outdoor living spaces scattered throughout the multi-acre estate. Enjoy al fresco dining by the gardens, sunbathe on the concrete terrace, sip champagne by the oversized pool.
As previously mentioned, Mr. Glover’s old La Cañada house — which he still owns — happens to be on the very same street as his new one. The far more modest (but also stunning) mid-century ranch is secreted down a long driveway on a full acre of land.
The glassy abode has 3,279-square-feet of living space and a huge outdoor terrace with a pool and built-in firepit. Spectacular views — this place actually has much better vistas than the new house — take in the Angeles National Forest and its magnificent mountains.
Records show that Mr. Glover used a blind trust to pay $2,744,250 for this property in April 2016. And while Yolanda assumes he will soon attempt to unload the stylish spread, it is not currently listed.
But as they say, these things are only a matter of time.
Listing agent: Janice McGlashan, Coldwell Banker Donald Glover’s agent: Andrew Morrison, REDWOOD

Before-and-After: How 5 Homes Went from Plain to Perfect
Basically, Cinderella-style transformations.
A home isn’t just a shelter – it’s where you and your loved ones live and grow together in. So naturally, it should look and function great. And while it does take time and effort to turn a regular apartment into an ideal home, we can all agree that the results are worth it.
Tumblr media
Here, we’ve gathered 5 stunning examples that show exactly what a successful renovation can achieve. Keep scrolling to see what these beautiful homes look like pre- and post-transformation. And, who knows? Maybe you’ll be inspired to pull off your own magical makeover too.
1. River Place – 19EightyThree
Tumblr media
                                       Interior Firm: 19 Eighty Three
With its circular, porthole-like window and free flowing layout, the inside of this contemporary family home closely resembles that of a luxury yacht after its makeover. But even before that, it doesn’t look half-bad either – which is the reason why some of its original interior features were kept.
Before/After (Living Room)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As part of the living room’s revival, a new lighting scheme was devised, which bathes the surroundings in a cosy, welcoming glow. Joining it are a new false ceiling and classy window drapes that similarly serve as sleek replacements within the space.
Before/After (Dining Area)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taking the place of a toddler table and chair set, a full-sized dining area currently occupies the back of the living room, turning it into a family space for all. The open kitchen’s island counter was given a revamp as well – now clad in white, the fixture blends perfectly into a backdrop of storage cabinets.
Before/After (Entryway)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To maximise the corridor leading into the bedrooms, an entire stretch of storage cabinets was built into the area. And while it results in a (slightly) narrower walkway, the trade-off is worth it because of how much extra storage space was gained.
Before/After (Stairway)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to the bedroom corridor, the bottom of the apartment’s internal staircase was also equipped with extra storage cabinets, thus maximising what would have been a dead space. Meanwhile, discreet, pull-down blinds were installed to provide privacy and conceal a pair of side windows alongside the dining area and stairway.
2. Edgefield Plains – Aart Boxx Interior
Tumblr media
                                     Interior Firm: Aart Boxx Interior
Belonging to Aart Boxx Interior designer couple, Ivan and Katherine, this resale flat at Edgefield Plains was transformed from an apartment with mid-century modern influences into a fancy, but functional abode that its owners are proud to call home.
Before/After (Living Room)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The revamp of Ivan and Katherine’s home saw the addition of several new features with classic details. In the living room, a wainscoted accent wall as well as a tufted entryway seat now occupy the front of the space. Joining them is a row of suspended shoe cabinets, similarly framed with wood panelling.
Before/After (Entryway/Dining Area)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probably the area where the biggest changes took place, the area bordering the dining space and the kitchen’s exterior were completely revamped. Originally closed off, the kitchen was opened up while the adjoining feature wall was transformed into a row of herringbone storage cabinets. For hosting purposes, an island-cum-dining table was installed.
Before/After (Bathroom)
Tumblr media
The common bathroom was given a simple, but effective update, transforming it from a dull, unappealing space into a brighter and cleaner one. Completing the look are new fixtures, such as matte black shower fittings, a compact suspended sink and a minimalist WC.
3. Serangoon Central – The Local INN.terior
Tumblr media
                                   Interior Firm: The Local INN.terior
The Local INN.terior’s work on this 4-room HDB apartment at Serangoon Centralis nothing short of inspiring. Aside from giving it a classy makeover that incorporates contemporary decor elements, the designers handling this project also created a daring, new layout that breaks away from the usual, cookie-cutter floor plan.
Before/After (Living Room)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once a blank slate, the front of the flat’s living space was transformed into a modern highlight. Here, an accent wall clad in black, vertical timber strips demonstrates the magic of high contrast decor in an (almost) all-white space.
Before/After (Master Bedroom Exterior)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adding a see-through element to the home, an indoor window framed in black reveals the insides of the master bedroom to all. This one-of-a-kind fixture takes the place of a (boring) whitewashed wall that once bordered the living room, while serving as a statement-maker all on its own.
Before/After (Master Bedroom Interior)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Receiving a classy makeover as well are the insides of the master bedroom, which features upgrades such as a platform bed with cove lights and warm wood flooring for a touch of cosiness. To make way for the home’s indoor window, the bedroom’s original entrance was also shifted (from where the bed’s headboard is currently) to its new position.
Before/After (Walk-in Wardrobe)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Working around the awkward confines of its surroundings, The Local INN.terior outfitted one of the flat’s bedrooms with an array of dark wood storage fixtures, transforming it into a classy walk-in wardrobe that has both looks and functionality going for it.
4. Dorset Road – Third Avenue Studio
Tumblr media
As Third Avenue Studio’s work on this Dorset Road resale flat proves, all it takes to refresh an old home with good bones (read: well-proportioned rooms and a good layout) is some proper space-planning and a bold, new look.
Before/After (Living Room)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Save for the TV’s recess (that ensures sufficient walkway space), the living room is laid out as one would imagine it to be pre-revamp. Here, cosy wood flooring takes the place of classic retro tiles, while sleek, modern furnishings lend the surroundings a cool, collected vibe that matches its monochrome palette.
Before/After (Master Bedroom)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much like the living room, the master bedroom steps over to the dark side with its choice of wood flooring. Meanwhile, the new, all-white paint scheme does wonders in brightening up the bedroom’s surroundings during the day.
Before/After (Kitchen)
Tumblr media
The newly revamped kitchen now features a more open look with its sliding glass doors, which allow natural light to penetrate the rest of the house. The L-shaped configuration of the kitchen counter was also kept, which aids in maximising an entire stretch of wall space along the right.
Before/After (Study)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The flat’s study occupies an entryway alcove that faces the corridor outside. Post-revamp, the area serves as the perfect work corner with its simple, but efficient furnishings consisting of a rear bookshelf and a work desk. Meanwhile, a vibrant painting draws the eye towards the far end of the space, creating the illusion of depth.
5. Elias Road – Zenith Arc
Tumblr media
                                             Interior Firm: Zenith Arc
While we aren’t exactly sure what this resale flat at Elias Road looked like before its renovation (because its makeover was already underway when the ‘before’ photos were taken), one thing that we’re certain of is that it has been transformed into a clean, spacious abode in the hands of design firm Zenith Arc.
Before/After (Living Area)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part of the revamp saw the construction of a handy island/preparation corner along the outside of the flat’s open kitchen as well as a new TV feature wall in the living area that’s right beside it. And while this part of the house hasn’t changed much structurally (based on the pictures), its transformation into a comfortable space is evident.
Before/After (Gym)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fronted by a cosy dining area and a privacy barrier for the main entrance is one of the apartment’s former bedrooms, which is now a home gym. New additions to this space also include a see-through display cabinet as well as blonde wood flooring that extends throughout the house for an undeniably chic look.
Before/After (Bathroom)
Tumblr media
While it isn’t the most impressive example, the before-and-after transformation of this bathroom certainly shows how much renovation matters in creating liveable home spaces. Here, a raw, empty corner was transformed into an elegant loo, complete with all the amenities of modern life.

Top 6 trends for kitchen countertop design in 2019
Tumblr media
There can hardly be denied that the countertop is an indispensable component of the kitchen. That is where many actions take place like eating, partying, etc. But more than that, the countertop is the foundation of kitchen decoration when performing kitchen renovations. It helps to reduce the burden of setting the tone and feel of space. Here are the hottest countertop trends for 2018 that will give you ideas for your own kitchen Quartz is here to Stay When choosing a kitchen countertop, many people prefer to use natural stone, which provides an endless array of colors. Granite is a natural stone and it is one of the most popular materials on the market. However, granite has a disadvantage of being porous. This means that liquids such as water, alcohol, and oil can penetrate the Granite surface, causing stains. Worse, it encourages the reproduction of dangerous bacteria that can make your countertop unhygienic. White Stone countertops in New York City Quartz, on the other hand, is not porous and does not have to undergo regular maintenance. This means that it has high anti-fouling ability and is one of the options for your kitchen countertop. Thus, quartz is known as a perfect substitute for granite, In fact, quartz has many advantages such as eye-catching appearance, price is not too expensive, high durability, easy to install and maintain. At the present, quartz has many colors, patterns and finishing techniques mimicking the shape of natural stone.  Honed vs Polished we have gone through a design movement that uses more texture and tactile surfaces, so why not consider it in the countertop design. There is no denying that abrasive and leather surfaces are the most popular and can be applied to many different materials, such as granite, marble and quartz. Even though we all know that polished is still the most popular and there are advantages to these two others. Honed finish is a matte finish with little to no shine.  In fact, the overall look will vary depending on the stone type.  But it is possible that it should have a low sheen and a smooth surface.  Honed finishes work well with quartz because it hides scratches more easily. In addition It also hides fingerprints and water spots remarkable well Leathered finish is a newer trend that has become more popular in recent years. It has soft light and less glossy. It retains the natural color of the stone to bring out a more sophisticated look than honed.  Countertops with character: veining and patterns get popular Many people are looking for a bit more characters in their countertop s. Thankfully, technology can support them. At the present, the countertop has many different styles, unlike the simple designs of previous years. Say hello to the actual line. Materials like quartz are being designed to resemble natural stone slabs like granite & marble. This adds to your creative personality in your kitchen. These varied finishes make an interesting combination with other kitchen elements including floors, walls, cabinets, and kitchens. It also adds a twist to your cooking, creating a beautiful visual background for countless kitchen activities. New kitchen sink styles It is possible that countertops are getting the modern treatment and modern sinks are also becoming more and more modern. Home owners couldn’t get enough of integrated sinks last year. However, those days were gone. In 2019, manufacturers are bringing to the finish on different sizes and designs for kitchen sinks and there is no denying that we are extremely excited about that.  We will see a matte black sink and sinking furniture as well as gold and brass. In addition, we will see matte black sinks and old and brass colors take over well as  sink fixtures in 2019 and they will become a trend in interior design in the coming years. These are also the color choices for popular faucets for 2019 bathroom trends! Large sized sinks are also becoming popular this year. The elegant and modern style of the sink is also becoming hot this year and will be searched a lot. For example, an integrated artificial stone sink (with drainage pipe) without seams from Cattalatta slabs is a classic, most popular kitchen sink model this year. Neutral tones trends Soft neutral tones are a popular theme for interiors in upcoming decorating trends. They will gradually replace Art Deco's bold daring colors and the mid-century style that is slowly losing its place in the kitchen. One good example for this is quartz countertop los Angeles. Neutral tones quartz countertop los Angeles Instead of a bright blue or black tabletop; You are most likely to find soft gray, white and beige tones in the kitchen in the last year. This year, there is a lot of focus on highlighting captivating individual components using neutral backgrounds. Thus, you can easily to find a beige countertop with a ceiling-high mosaic pattern backsplash standing out against it, You can also try using different tones, although still maintaining the overall neutral style. Some good opinions about quartz color are slightly different for you including dull brown and light blue (almost gray). Besides, more and more homeowners choose to stick with white, gray and neutral beige. Super large windows, skylights and folding glass doors are becoming more popular in the kitchen. The result is a bright and airy enhanced feeling that is modern. The combination of natural light and neutral tones really helps to expand the cognitive space. Backsplash trends Backsplashes can be an interesting part of the home in decoration. It always creates new trends and styles for the house. Another big change we are seeing in backslashes is their size and the wall they are covering. Big slabs are taking over. These slabs can be marble, quartz, wood, copper, stainless steel, glass, etc. In terms of wall coverage, the back panels are rising to the ceiling. When it comes to decorating the space in the kitchen, tiles are a popular choice. The color choices are endless here. It just depends on the other colors you choose in your kitchen and of course your personal preference The countertop is always a big part of kitchen decoration. Homeowners have an almost endless choice of materials, designs, sizes, etc. The modern 2019 kitchen will feature neutral colored countertops with delicate thin plates, and a sleek integrated sink Read the full article

3 Examples That Show How To Go Full Mid Century Modern
The mid century modern style can be introduced to any room with a single piece of retro furniture or a specific fabric print, but sometimes it’s more fun to go the whole hog. These three home designs not only employ mid century modern furniture, but each piece of wall decor and every floor is selected to accentuate this distinctive aesthetic. They are also illustrative of medium, small and large size properties (respectively) so there is something here to suit every scale. During the home tours we will find inspiration for mid century modern colour palettes, mid century modern style lighting, mirrors, and bookcases, which fill aspirational living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and quirky bathrooms.
Designer: Atelier Creative Varsovie   Visualizer: Atelier Creative Varsovie   Our first tour is a sophisticated mid century modern interior with a youthful twist. A streamline mid century modern sofa and matching upholstered bench are accented with duck egg blue bolsters and cappuccino cushions. Two very different mid century modern coffee tables make an eclectic mix on the living room rug, whilst a single shelf serves as another handy surface just behind the sofa. A stylish swing arm wall lamp extends from an arty wall treatment.
Mid century modern inspired bookcases make a rich wall of woodtone and metal. A paper floor lamp and two accent chairs make up the third side of the U-shaped lounge furniture arrangement.
The area rug has been picked out in a muted shade of pale red to match the feature fireplace. The hanging kinetic sculpture is by Sarah Perez
An open walkway leads from the lounge into the dining room. Banquette seating folds around two sides of the dining table. A wall sconce shines on each side of a large wall painting.
The linear suspension light carries in some mid century magic.
Built in bookshelves and base cabinets neatly fill an alcove.
Opposite the dining area there is a one wall kitchen with an enviable pantry. Green and amber tile flooring fills the bijou space with colourful character.
A mid century modern dresser furnishes the home entryway.
Inside the bedroom, an olive green headboard design and contrasting red bedroom pendant lights build the mid century look.
Mid century modern abstract cubism shapes a vanity wall, under square bathroom vanity lights.
Floor tiles complement the cubist aesthetic.
A unique bathroom sink rests on a hessian fronted vanity.
Swirling wood grain patterns the walls.
A beige bathtub sits easily in the muted mid century modern decor palette of a second bathroom.
Gold bath fixtures echo the standout design of an eye catching bright gold and rose sink.
The metallic pedestal sink is complemented by stunning gold panelling on the cistern wall.
Designer: Atelier Creative Varsovie   Visualizer: Atelier Creative Varsovie   Our second tour is a small home with big mid century modern ideas. A neat sofa is dwarfed by a long mid century coffee table and large modern chandelier.
A modern fireplace sits inside a unique chimney breast, decorated with a plaster fanning technique that’s gently reminiscent of the mid century anaglypta trend.
The wooden small side table draws the eye down into a traditional wood parquet floor.
The fireplace is a connecting feature between the lounge and dining room. A small bar sits at one side of the dining room, which could be used for a quick coffee, or more usefully as a workspace.
A comfortable reading chair sits in the light of the window by the bookcase. Wood grain mid century modern chairs accompany a black dining table.
Large fruit bowls decorate the dark tabletop.
The dining set stands within an L-shaped kitchen installation, anchored beneath a pair of timeless black dining room pendant lights.
In the hallway, a mid century modern reproduction Atollo lamp shines gold against a grey concrete wall. The raw backdrop lets retro inspired pieces sing out.
The same modern wall sconce design appears at each end of the white and wood tone hall.
A modern platform bed is dressed in a simple monochrome bed set.
The modern outdoor chair is the Bertoia Diamond chair.
Concrete builds another backdrop inside a grey and black bathroom scheme.
Ribbed wood texturises the bathroom door, inside a smooth black surround. The bathroom vanity continues the sleek aspect of the design, with grey flat fronted units and a glossy black countertop.
A monochrome mat is laid out between a black bathtub and a black framed shower enclosure. A black wall hung toilet completes the set.
Gold wall mirrors and a gold faucet brighten the room palette.
Architect: Rina Lovko Studio   Designer: Rina Lovko Studio   Our last tour takes us to Kyiv, Ukraine.
This spacious 165 square metre apartment design concept has a minimalist mid century modern aesthetic, filled with warm light.
A modern floor reading lamp overhangs retro style lounge chairs.
The polished stainless steel modern coffee table cuts sharply across the rounded-off chair silhouettes. Тhe main feature of this living room are rounded walls, which were introduced to eliminate corners and a predictably straight corridor.
A low sectional sofa is wrapped in soft sandy colour, whilst an umber rug flames across the microcement floor.
One jarring pop of lime green shakes up the earthy living room dining room combo.
The Cesca chair by Marcel Breuer came a little before mid century modern, but they buzz a complementary retro vibe–as does the UFO saucer dining pendant light above. A white decorative vase accentuates the white marble round dining table.
Warm wooden cabinets embrace the cool kitchen.
A decorative wall mirror brings organic shape to the hallway. A corner pouf makes use of a small recess.

California Home Renovation
Happy 2020, my wonderful friends! I have been working a little less than I usually do and I feel better about everything in my life. Sometimes all we need to do is take a break to feel ourselves again… and have our creative side get back to its full potential!
It’s really great to start this week with this inspiring California home renovation by Spaces Renewed (previously featured here). This was a total reno, inside and out, and the interiors were beautifully staged for sale, and although the staging company (Everything Creative Designs) wasn’t able to provide the resources for the furniture and decor, I will be doing my best to find the items or similar options so you still can get this look!
Here, the talented builder and designer Beth Booth, along with her equally talented husband, Marshall, share the details on this incredible project:
“We did this project for an investor and the goal was to make this home as appealing as possible to a wide range of buyers. We did this by not only addressing the cosmetics of the home, but also fundamentally changing the floor plan. We took overly large redundant space and made distinct, usable and versatile space. For example, the existing master bedroom and bathroom and media room took over the entire upstairs. By repurposing that area, we created a generous master bedroom and bathroom suite, a library, a media room, a game room, and a great sized laundry and craft room. These changes not only make the feel of the home totally different, but also give the investor the best return on investment regarding real estate comps. We took this 8800 square foot dark, closed off gut job and turned it into an inspired coastal style full renovation that any family would love to call home.”
